A challenge has been issued! The Economic Development Committee of Castine has asked for our help in creating a five-word pitch or slogan for our town of Castine. The slogan will be used for marketing, advertising and promotional materials.
We are calling upon all ye wordsmiths, ex-carnival barkers, PT Barnum pitchmen, bored marketing executives, unemployed fine print insurance authors and idle confidence men who love and cherish Castine. We need your help. We are seeking your finest, most expedient “Madison Avenue” exaggeration that captures and distills the essence of the Castine experience.
Camden uses “where mountains meet the sea”, Greenville touts “something for everyone” and Old Orchard boasts “it’s a shore thing”. Bucksport claims their “rich in heritage” while Bangor hails “the queen city of the east” and Maine stands by “the way life should be”.
The Pentagoet Inn is offering a dinner for two with all the fixings. Entries should be e-mailed to stay@pentagoet.com with the Subject line: Castine Slogan. The deadline is February 1.
